1. Wisconsin State Fair

Make sure to visit the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds during your West Allis trip to see what's in store. You can expect an experience full of food, fun and rides at the fair that takes place annually over 12 days in mid- to late summer. Check out countless exhibits and shows, including equestrian, livestock and agriculture exhibitions; a carnival filled with rides; and even a wedding expo.

This annual event is held in mid-August towards the beginning of what many consider to be the "worst" heat wave of the summer, when temps can climb into the 90s and humidity is at its highest. Additionally, there is a great opportunity for artists and art lovers alike to experience the best of what local folks have put their creative minds to, from oil paintings to sculptures to abstract music. It's held every other month, making it easy and fun! to get involved with the place.

3. Grant Park

Grant Park is great for those who enjoy biking, hiking, jogging or just simply spending time outside. It has a variety of different trails that are great for any skill level or experience with biking, including one that is wheelchair accessible. The park also offers areas where individuals can picnic and other activities you would expect to find at an outdoor park.

4. Teddy Bear Gallery

Kids of all ages will have the chance to see some bears they may have never seen before at this fun, unique attraction. The Teddy Bear Gallery is a collection of more than 200 bears from around the world that are on display throughout the gallery's three rooms, which can take anywhere from ten minutes to an hour to explore. Although the bear pictured on the right is not for sale, there are other adorable examples of bears as well as other stuffed animals for sale as well. The Teddy Bear Gallery also sells a variety of toys, games and other collectible items.

5. West Allis Farmers Market

The West Allis Farmers Market is a great place to do some shopping if you're looking for fresh produce, plants or even furniture. This market has been in the area for more than 70 years and is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There are also other markets in West Allis too if this one doesn't quite fit your schedule. The West Allis Farmer's Market is a great place to get fresh produce, handmade pastries, or even some home-brewed beer. It boasts everything you could ever want from a farmers' market and more, and it's open all year round for your convenience. Come by every opportunity you get!
